MFG started in 1995 and has a team
of about 35 professionals. Financed primarily by the
federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, and operating as
a private corporation, MFG is able to work efficiently
and flexibly. Its main objective is to support and develop
the IT and media sector in Germany's Southwest. Moreover,
MFG is the managing office of "doIT Baden-Wurttemberg".
With this new strategic program, the state government
provides altogether 440 million Euro for projects fostering
the information society during the current legislative
period (starting in 2001).
MFG concentrates on:
1. Training of Professionals
MFG organizes some 70 courses per year for professionals
from IT and media ventures. A schedule of seminars and
events is published on a regularly basis. Furthermore
MFG organizes the leading event for internet and e-business,
called "German Multimedia Congress" (DMMK)
with dozens of workshops and round tables. For more
than five years, MFG together with Germany/s second
largest broadcaster SWR Sudwestrundfunk organizes the
"Baden-Baden Summer School". This course attracts
young high-potentials working in the media sector form
all over Germany and allows them to meet branch leaders
and discuss forecoming trends.
2. Communication, Networking and Promotion
MFG employs a bundle of tools to accelerate the dynamics
of the IT and new media industries in Baden-Wuerttemberg:
with a website updated on a daily basis, several newsletters,
a database with more than 40,000 addresses, market studies,
guides to educational branches as well as awards for
excellence and the support of regional initiatives.
For start-ups and foreign companies, MFG opens doors
to the local and regional markets: a dedicated team
offers consulting on business plans and facilitates
contacts with investors, business partners and official
authorities. On the other hand, MFG works as a consultant
and project developer for the state administration.
3. Project Management and Services
MFG operates as a project manager for initiatives funded
or co-funded by the public sector or by the industry.
Additionally, MFG manages the office of the business
initiative Baden-Wurttemberg:Connected (bw:con) and
handles the 10 billion Euro project "start and
click!", Europe's most advanced program promoting
PC and internet starter courses for more than 130.000
citizens a year.
Furthermore MFG is project leader of
the EU project "AcTEN" (Contract No. IST-2001-38240).
With 11 partners in 10 countries ACTeN builds an enlarged
business and industry community in the area of multimedia
technologies and e-content applications and tools.
